Dating from the 19th Century, this is a rarely seen chunky and huge stoneware French jug.
A French country piece, this would have been used to keep wine, oil or milk in, the cool stoneware helping to preserve different foods in a countryside property. And although it's attracted some age and wear in its lifetime, this has added natural timeworn charm.
Stoneware jugs like this are perfect for modern day decorative use. Adding flowers or dried foliage will create an instant table centrepiece. They add a rustic charm to a kitchen as a utensil pot. Their large and imposing size also looks great used for display purposes anywhere in the home. And the neutral hues of this pot work well in any interior.
The condition of this confit pot is very good. There are some scuffs, knocks and stains to the outside, but these add rustic charm and there is no damage to the jug.
