A huge antique French pierced faisselle mould. It's amongst the largest you can find and is perfect for a variety of decorative uses around the home. Its rustic and timeworn charm just add to its appeal.
Dating from the early 20th Century, this was originally used as a mould for making faisselle cheese, with the pierced holes allowing the whey to drain away. A number '5' is imprinted on its side, denoting the size as they were produced in a range of different sizes.
These are now popular for decorative purposes around the home. This is perfect for putting a few tealights in (it would easily fit five inside), using as a planter or as a kitchen tidy.
This has been well used over the years and therefore does have some timeworn wear, with a crack running about half way down one side of the pot. However, it is perfectly stable and the pot remains a heavy and imposing piece. There are also some light stains and scuffs to the base rim.
Diameter, 17.3cm; Height, 13.7cm
