Extra Large Vintage French Ironstone Patisserie Platter

A lovely example of a scarce and highly sought after white ironstone cake platter, dating from the early 20th Century.

This beautiful plain white cake plate is a fantastic large size, measuring 37cm in width. The edge rim is also far chunkier than most I see, giving the platter some added dimension when it is on display.

Ironstone stands like this would have commonly been used in patisseries or cake shops, as well as in butchers shops, to display the products available for sale. They are now such desirable items to have and use around the home. They create a real centre piece or focal point for a table display and also are amazing items to have on display, perhaps as part of a kitchenalia collection, when not in use.

There are some light surface scratches and staining to the surface of this platter in places. There is also a chip to the underside. But these flaws are to be expected with age. And they in no way detract from what is a very sturdy, solid and clean white ironstone cake stand.
