Extra Large Pine Cawl Spoon Holder

A great example of an extra large three-tier early 20th Century pine spoon rack with capacity to hold up to 14 spoons.

Made of pine, this is a well constructed and solid scratch built piece, and has a lovely rich honey colour and patina. The hole for hanging this onto the wall is in the shape of a heart, making this rack a little unusual. This treen spoon rack may be Welsh in origin, as they were often made to display Welsh cawl spoons.

This spoon rack is a great large size, designed to make an impression in the kitchen. The holes are oval in shape and are approximately 2.5cm in length, and 2cm deep. It could be used for spoons as well as a range of other kitchen utensils.

The spoon rack is in great overall condition. It is quite a rustic piece and has some surface scratches and light marks. It is also of rustic construction. But it is solid. There is split in the wood on the back rear of the rack, however the area surrounding this has been glued to prevent movement and this doesn't affect the rack standing up. You may wish to secure it further with an additional nail but this isn't necessary.
