A lovely example of a scarce and highly sought after white ironstone butchers platter, dating from the early 20th Century.
Carrying the mark of French makers, Pexonne, this impressive plain white rectangular platter is a fantastic large size, and dates to around 1920.
Ironstone stands like this would have commonly been used in butchers shops, to display the produce available for sale. They are now such desirable items to have and use around the home. They create a real centre piece or focal point for a table display and also are amazing items to have on display, perhaps as part of a kitchenalia collection, when not in use.
This old platter does show signs of its age, with patches of staining and scratches, as well as scuff marks and some glaze chips on the rim. However, it is otherwise in good condition with no cracks.
