An unusual example of a rectangular shaped bread or cutting board complete with its original silver plated base, dating from the early to mid 20th Century.
This breadboard is a fantastic feature piece. Consisting of two parts, a wooden board has been cut to fit inside the plate tray perfectly. It sits inside a highly decorative silver plate tray. The cutler's hallmark - Harrison Brothers & Howson - can be seen on the underside of the tray.
This is an excellent quality piece of kitchenalia which is still in nice condition. The decorartive tray really elevates the piece. The board is unwaxed and so is perfect for ongoing use. There are a number of knife marks to the board from use, plus a small hole to the underside edge where there was a knot, but otherwise it is in good condition still. There is also some light tarnishing to the edge of the silver plate in places, but this is quite minimal overall.
Length, 32.5cm (board is 24cm in length); Width, 25.5cm (board is 16cm wide); Height, 2cm
