This is a stunning decorative French wall bracket, dating from the 19th Century.
A cast iron piece, this is perfect for a range of decorative purposes around the home. Most likely intended as a tie back for drapes or curtains, it would also work well as a large hook and could also be used to hang baskets or dried floral bouquets from,
The decoration on this hook is very impressive. At the front are two crossed torches of liberty sitting against a decorative moulding, with floral wreaths also hanging down. The back part of the hook is equally impressive, with cornucopia and feathers sitting at each end of a crest. The work that has gone into making this is very impressive. And it would have originally had an ormolu finish, some of which can still be seen.
Aside from the discolouration to the brass over time, this piece is otherwise in very nice condition. It is a heavy piece.
