This is a listing for an antique Victorian tall slim two pound Dundee marmalade pot with a worn and gorgeously chippy and timeworn patina.

This is an unusual example of a the slimmer version of the two pound James Keiller English advertising Dundee marmalade pots, dating from the turn of the Century.

These white ironstone James Keiller Dundee marmalade jars were all handmade by Maling in the late Victorian period. The company produced their marmalade pots in a variety of sizes, and this is the taller slimmer 2 pound version.

As most pots were discarded at the time, they often have spots of discoloration, minor hairline cracks, minor chips and varying shades of crazing. However, this adds to their charm as highly decorative pieces. Recently uncovered from an old Victorian dump, this example certainly wears its history, with a unique colouring and patination.

The pot is in fair condition. As well crazing all over, much of which has weathered and turned a rusty orange colour, there are some surface cracks and small hairlines. However, these are all stable and this pot would still make an excellent display piece.

Commonly used to store kitchen utensils, they are also perfect for use as vases, plant pots or to store artists paintbrushes.
