Carved Antique French Breadboard with Daily Bread Motto - Donnez Nous Notre Pain Quotidien

A wonderful example of an antique French breadboard with a carved motto, dating from the mid 20th Century, with a "Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread" motto in French.

This breadboard just oozes character and charm, with a rich colour and patina. The shape of the board is also very unusual and has a lovely feature in the tied ears of wheat at the base of the board. The carver has also signed this piece.

The motto is the French equivalent of Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread. It reads, “Donnez Nous Notre Pain Quotidien”. 

This is a solid piece which is in very good condition, with just some surface scratches from use.
