A stunning late 19th Century large white ironstone soupiere with buttery timeworn colouring.
With a mark for Vieillard & Cie of Bordeaux on its base, this fantastic soup tureen dates to the late 1800s. as well as the unique rich buttery colouring, this tureen is an unusual style, with ribbed detailing and a scalloped border to the base. The sculpted handles are especially attractive.
Perfect for use as a decorative antique accessory around the home - for dried flowers or bulbs.
This soupiere has suffered some damage in its 150 year history. Notably, there is a chip to the underside of one of the handles. However, this could be carefully displayed and this adds to the timeworn look of the piece. There are also some scuffs and wear to the handle edges and the rims. There is of course crazing all over, much of which has stained in the rich coffee and buttery colouring.
