Antique Watercolour Painting - French Village

A framed watercolour painting of a French country village scene. So beautiful, this transports me instantly to the pretty towns and and villages around the Alps.

The artwork features a town with a prominent church tower against a backdrop of distant hills. A lovely quaint piece.

There is writing on the back but of the frame but I am unable to decipher this. It may be a signature of the name of the town.

The painting itself is in excellent condition. It sits within a sturdy glass and metal frame. The edges of this are finished with a decorative silver coloured paper which has now weathered and frayed, most notably in the corners. There are also some light stains and marks to the mounting board. Nonetheless, it is a beautiful piece still worthy of display.
