Antique Victorian Stoneware English Advertising Pot - Blanchflower Bloater Paste, Great Yarmouth
Antique Victorian Stoneware English Advertising Pot - Blanchflower Bloater Paste, Great Yarmouth
A nice example of a stoneware English advertising pot for Blanchflower & Sons of Great Yarmouth, dating from the end of the 19th/early 20th Century.
This is a substantial example of an antique paste pot, with clear black typography and its original lid which screws into position. Antique advertising pots like this look wonderful on display as part of a kitchenalia or white ironstone collection, and are versatile to use in all rooms around the home. With its lid (rare to see), this example is perfect for storing small items or keepsakes in.
At the time they were produced, these pots were discarded. This pot has been dug from an old Victorian dump, and therefore features aged crazing and some odd knocks and scuffs. However, this is mostly focused on the lid where there is a chip on one side (which could be hidden on display by fitting the lid loosely in position), and there are also some knocks to the inside rim where the lid screws into position. There are no cracks.
The pot also shows signs of its age with some crazing and staining, giving it a unique timeworn patina. But the black transfer print logo is still very clear and legible.
