This is a lovely piece of antique treen kitchenalia dating from the nineteenth Century.
This Victorian hardwood butter roller has a lovely rich colour to it. Butter rollers would have been used to decorate hand made butter. This example has a deep decorative pattern of flowers and foliage around it. The carving has worn and mellowed over time, creating a lovely patina. ,
Antique butter stamps like this look lovely displayed as part of a kitchenalia collection. They are also excellent used in the modern kitchen as biscuit stamps. They work particularly well on shortbread.
The butter print is in good overall condition, with a rich colour to the wood. Complete with its original wooden fittings, the roller moves well still and is still very usable.
