This is a listing for a Victorian white ironstone English advertising pot for the Army & Navy Extract of Malt & Cod Liver Oil.
Dating from around 1900, it was common for cod liver oil to be given as a health supplement. This is a lovely sturdy large one pound sized pot, with scripted typography giving the dosage instructions.
As most jars were discarded with common waste at the time, and have been more recently been dug up from Victorian dumping grounds, they often have discoloration and chips. However, this adds to their charm as highly decorative, weathered and chippy pieces.
This pot is in excellent overall good condition, with no cracks. The text is very clear and visible, but the whole piece has a timeworn charm to it, with light crazing and staining in places. There is a very small chip on the base rim but this isn’t overly notable due to the curves of the pot.
