Antique Terre de Fer Saucier withUnusual Transferware Pattern
Antique Terre de Fer Saucier withUnusual Transferware Pattern
A wonderful rare antique white ironstone French sauce dish with integrated drip plate dating from the early 20th Century.
This French terre de fer saucier has a stunning and unusual dark teal coloured pattern to it, which is mixed wonderful timeworn colouring. Made by Salins, the saucier stands out with its central dragon emblem at the centre of the bowl. The dragon and regal theme continues in the border.
In fair condition for its age, it is still sturdy and very usable. There is a chip to one of the pouring edges, plus a fine and small hairline on the side, but otherwise there is no other damage. The colouring has lightly stained over the years and, mixed with some light crazing, this adds a natural timeworn charm to the piece.
Designed to be used for sauce or gravy, it is also a very nice decorative piece. A great addition for collectors of antique French tableware or white ironstone who like their pieces with charm and patina.
