Dating from the early 20th Century, this is a very pretty French ironstone ravier, with a more unusual pattern than most you see.
Made by Longchamp, the blue transferware pattern features a country setting with quails running around a field. Ravier dishes like this were designed to serve appetisers and canapes on.
The plate is in very good order. There is a chip to the underside rim but this doesn't affect its use in any way. There is also a firing crack at one end of the plate but this has been there since the time of production and is stable. There are some minor patches of aged wear to the edge rim but overall it is very clean.
A beautiful dish which is perfect as serving or snack dish, and also for trinkets.
