This is a beautiful antique Dutch ironstone lidded dish, dating to around 1920.
Made by renowned makers Societe Ceramique, this lidded dish features a pretty pink transferware floral pattern. It has aged beautifully over time, and there is lightly stained crazing dotted across the piece too, adding natural timeworn charm.
There is a light pink stain on the inside of the pot at one end, which is also on the underside of one end of the lid, but this isn't overly notable. There are also two cracks to the base pot. Both of these are stable and the piece is structurally sound. One is a firing crack which has been present since the time of production and the other is a very fine and tight hairline.
Originally intended to hold razors in, this is still an immensely practical piece to have in any part of the home, perfect for use in the bathroom still perhaps for soaps or as a toothbrush holder. It would also make a perfect soap dish, trinket pot or jewellery holder.
