This is a listing for ONE antique French white ironstone ‘Sand’ pot.
Dating from the early to mid 20th Century, these white ironstone pots were designed to be hung from a cast iron rack alongside other cleaning materials to enable maids and to have easy access to them when cleaning difficult areas in the home. Sand was used to help scrub floors clean.
Both featuring late 19th Century marks on their bases for K et G Luneville of France, these are fabulous decorative pots. Both are a little chippy and worn but this adds to their charm. Both have wonderful clear blue typography which is in a typical Art Deco French style.
The left hand pot is the cleanest example although it is covered in light crazing all over. The inside is a little stained and there are some nibbles and a chip to the base of the pot, located roughly under the ‘S’.
The right hand pot has now sold.
Height, 10cm; Width, 11.5cm at its widest.
