I have a set of two green transferware terre de fer cup and saucers, dating from around 1900.
Made by the French pottery company A Virot for sale in a shop in Brest in Brittany, these cups and saucers have a gorgeous toasty colour to them. They are beautiful pieces to display and also to continue to use.
Each has a slightly different floral pattern. They are also perfectly aged, with light buttery coloured crazing, which is more pronounced in the inside of the cups.
They are in good condition considering their age. There are some tiny flake chips to the edges of the rims of each plate and there are some surface cracks to the glaze on the cups. Most notably, there is a fine hairline to the handle of one of the cups, but this is stable.
Diameter, 14.3cm; Height, 6cm
