Antique French Teal Green Transferware Compote Dish By Sarreguemines

This is an excellent quality French ironstone compote dish, dating from the early 20th Century, with a gorgeous timeworn charm and patina.

This compote dish has an unusually high surround at the top and is in lovely condition with a fantastic patina and colour to it.

Made by Sarreguemines in the early 20th Century, this ironstone compote dish has taken on a natural weathered look over the years, with lightly stained coffee coloured crazing in places. This complements the gorgeous deep green coloured pattern on the piece.

Apart from the timeworn crazing and some odd patches of staining, this compote is otherwise in excellent condition. There are no cracks or chips. On its base is a clear maker’s mark.

Compote dishes like this are great for use as a kitchen centrepiece, for fruit like lemons or as a large dessert bowl.
