Antique French Silver Plated Hatelet or Pie Skewer - Fleur De Lys

Sourced from France, these were used as markers in large elaborate pies to add a decorative finishing touch. They were also used as brochettes, or skewers for grilled food.

Silver plated, they have tarnished and discoloured over the years although they could of course be polished if desired. The decorative ends are all hollow but they are nonetheless quite heavy and quality pieces. With the exception of one skewer, they are all marked H France & Co. The other has a mark but this isn't recognisable. The fleur de lys on this one has bent inwards and so is available for a reduced price. But it is the same style and quality and they all date to around 1900.
