This is a lovely antique French butter brick mould, dating from the 19th Century.
This wooden butter mould features nice carved detail of rosehips and foliage. Joined with a hinge at one end, the other end has a hook and latch allowing the top to be removed and easy access once the butter has set.
With its rustic patina, this would look beautiful simply sat proudly on display to give a rustic touch to your interior kitchen styling. But as it's in perfect working order, it's also ideal for more adventurous cooks who might want to try making their own butter.
There is general age and wear to the wood in some places, with some light scratches, water marks and one old worm hole (which has been treated). But otherwise the mould is in excellent condition, with the carving still very crisp and clear. T
