Antique French Ironstone Packaging Terrine Pot

A lovely early 20th Century antique ironstone packaging terrine pot for Doyen foie gras.

Originally, this pot would have contained French goose liver pate with truffles. The pot has some nice details, with lion’s heads at each side of the base, and a decorated integrated handle on the top of the lid. This type of exquisite detail typifies French advertising pieces.

Considered a throwaway item at the time it was produced, this French advertising pot is in surprisingly good condition. There is no crazing, cracks or chips. There is a small surface scratch to the rim of the lid plus a firing crack in the handle, but otherwise it is in excellent condition.
