This is a beautiful timeworn example of a rarely seen polychrome version of a French confiture pot, dating from around 1900, in a large two pound size.
Dating from the very start of the 20th Century, this French ironstone advertising pot is a scarce survivor. Its natural timeworn and buttery appearance adds a unique charm, and blends beautifully with the polychrome under glaze transfer print which show the Felix Potin factories and celebrate the gold medal winning product.
This pot is in good sturdy condition considering its age. There has been a small knock to the front above the logo and there is also a crack on the back of the pot. This only penetrates through near the top rim though so is stable. There is also light ceazing and buttery coloured staining all over the pot, but I find this to be a gorgeous feature in its own right.
A beautiful decorative antique.
