Antique French Ironstone Cafe or Bar Serving Plate with Coloured Rim
Antique French Ironstone Cafe or Bar Serving Plate with Coloured Rim
This is a listing for ONE antique early to mid 20th Century ironstone French serving dish. A total of two are available to choose from, each with a different coloured rim and monetary value.
Designed to be used in French cafés and bars, these little saucers are very difficult to source. Dating to the first half of the 20th Century, they were used when serving drinks and small plates of food to indicate the price of the items purchased. The prices, in French francs, featured on different plates, and the value was also indicated by the different coloured rims.
These are beautiful vintage items to use as trinket plates or serving dishes in the home now. The classic French Art Deco typography really makes them stand out as unique vintage pieces.
Both in excellent condition for their age, this is quite impressive as they would have been used on a daily basis. There are no chips or cracks on either, with just some minor wear to their base rims as to be expected with pieces of this age.
The pink rimmed dish - for 1f75 - is in particularly nice condition, with the pink colouring still very prominent. There is a small age stain on one side but this isn't overly notable.
There is some wear to the gold rim of the 2f50 plate but this adds to the timeworn appeal of the piece.
Both plates have Limoges maker's marks on their base.
