Antique French Cast Iron Wall Hanging - Grape Vine

In their former life, these plaques were used as handles on wine crates dating back to the 19th Century. They now make such characterful plaques to add a touch of French decoration to your home. 

They originally would have had a gilt finish but were subsequently painted over. After many years of wear and use they now have a natural timeworn and distressed appearance with the different layers of gilding and paint evident. This gives them all unique charm and are also quite weighty given they are made of iron.
