This is a gorgeous toasty and buttery green transferware plate with an elaborate border which marries up garlands of roses with scrollwork decoration.
The terre de fer plate was commissioned by a Parisian company, Etablissements Debray, in around 1900. This business traditionally commissioned transferware pottery from Saint Amand, which would be distributed to department stores across France.
Both plates are in fair condition for their age, with no cracks. There is some surface staining and light crazing to the ironstone. One plate does have a small chip to the underside of the edge rim.
Diameter, 22.5cm; Height, 3cm
