Antique French Blue Transferware Water Ewer

A very pretty example of an early 20th Century French terre de fer water ewer.

The blue transferware pattern on this pitcher is striking, with different flowers appearing on all sides of the jug, including the handle and inside the spout.

The shape of these jugs is fabulous and they make perfect vessels for stunning displays of flowers.

This pitcher is in very good condition. There is light crazing all over, some of which has discoloured a little. There are no chips but there is some wear to the glaze on the spout. And there are also two very fine, short cracks on the top rim too, but only one of these penetrates through and the piece is stable.
