A stunning late 19th Century white ironstone soupiere with buttery timeworn colouring.
With a mark for Vieillard & Cie of Bordeaux on its base, this fantastic soup tureen dates to the late 1800s. As well as the unique rich buttery colouring, this tureen has beautiful sculpted handles.
Perfect for use as a decorative antique accessory around the home - for dried flowers or bulbs.
This soupiere has suffered some damage in its 150 year history. There is crazing and buttery staining all over. Most notably, though, there is an old crack running down one side of the bowl. But this is stable and indeed looks quite attractive, as this has caused additional crazing and staining all over. There are no chips but there are some scuffs, wear and nibbles. All of these flaws do of course enhance the timeworn appeal of the piece.
