Antique English Still Life Painting

Signed in the bottom right hand corner by a known artist, John W Smith, this is a beautiful still life painting of peaches sitting on top of a table, with anenomes in the foreground and a pot of eucalyptus leaves in the background providing an interesting contrast.

Beautifully executed, the use of colour and shading has captured each piece beautifully. The bright orange of the peaches pops against the moody background hues.

There is some damage to the painting. There is some light loss to the edges where this has previously been framed, but more notably there is a section of loss and some bubbling to the paint in the bottom right corner. But such is the overall quality of the painting that it's easy to be drawn away from these flaws.
