A great example of a deeply carved treen handled English butter knife, dating from the early to mid twentieth Century.
The handle features the word "ISLE OF WIGHT" carved onto it. An island to the South of England, this is a popular holiday destination and knives like this would have been sold as souvenirs of holidays spent there. Carved utensils such as this have become increasingly popular in recent years and even the more common knives like these are getting harder to source.
The knife has a chrome plated blade with a nice engraving. It is in solid condition and is still a very usable knife with no tarnishing or discoloration.
This is a wonderful piece of English kitchenalia which is getting harder to find and would make a lovely addition to a country style of rustic farmhouse kitchen.
Length, 19cm; Widest point of blade, 2cm
