This is a listing for ONE Victorian advertising white ironstone pot lid with a timeworn patina and charm. A total of three are available to choose from.
This advertising pot lid dates from the late Victorian period, the late 1800s/early 1900s. At the time, ointments and medicines were commonly sold in ceramic containers and were considered throwaway items. As such, many examples are now dug from old Victorian dumps.
These pot lids advertised Singleton’s Eye Ointment in lovely script typography encircling the lid.
A total of three lids are available to choose from, depending on the desired patina. They all have various degrees of wear, discolouration and nibbles to their rims, a result of their life underground. But none have any cracks or significant chips.
Pot lids like these are great starter pieces for a kitchenalia or antique advertising collection.
