Antique English Advertising - Palethorpes Sausages Transportation Box

A Palethorpes sausages cardboard transport box, dating from the early to mid 20th Century.

This is a lovely example of early food advertising, using all the space on the box as an opportunity to highlight the sausage and cooked meat products produced by Palethorpes. Palethorpes was renowned for high quality sausages made in Tipton in the West Midlands..

The box was manufactured by the Alliance Box Co Ltd, Warrington. It comes complete with its original delivery labels and unused greaseproof paper which would have been used to protect the meat during transport.

As the box is made from cardboard, it is showing signs of its age due to being exposed to damp conditions previously. Therefore, it has some water damage on the outside. There are also some rips in the cardboard joins. These can be seen in the photographs. However, it's still in remarkably sturdy shape and remains a fantastic kitchenalia display item. It is ideal for a collection or proudly on display in a shop, cafe or butchers.
