Antique Edwardian Shell Shaped Butter Stamp

This is a stunning example of an antique early 20th Century deeply carved English butter stamp.

With an intricate and detailed carving of a star shaped shell, this large sized butter stamp is very striking. The carving is deep and layered, with lots of points of detail. It is surrounded by a pointed and framed border, which frames the subject matter perfectly.

The butter stamp has a deep and rich colouring and patina. There is some old worm damage, with a few holes on the front and handle, as well as a small area of loss on one side. But this has been treated and this is nonetheless still a beautiful example of a carved butter stamp.
