Antique Edwardian Large White Ironstone Picnic Box by Coracle
Antique Edwardian Large White Ironstone Picnic Box by Coracle
A rare opportunity to acquire a wonderful large white ironstone sandwich box, originally part of a picnic set, complete with its original lid.
Carrying a fantastic mark for Coracle on its bases, this white ironstone sandwich box would have been part of a larger Edwardian picnic set. Coracle were famous manufacturers and specialised in sets which could be attached to cars as the motor trade developed.
These picnic boxes aren't often seen and this is a great example. The white ironstone box itself is an overall clean example. There are a few scuff marks from use (most notably some minor rust marks where the lid has been fixed) and light crazing all over, but there are no cracks or chips.
The lid has weathered and oxidised from use in a number of places but this doesn't affect its use in any way and it's still a very attractive piece.
Length, 21cm; Width, 14.5cm; Height, 16cm (with lid lifted).
