Antique Edwardian Ironstone Scale Plate

Made in white ironstone, this scale plate has a striking under glaze black transfer print featuring Lady Justice and the logo "JUSTITIA VIRTUTUM REGINA". This translates to 'justice is the queen of virtues'. The print is still exceptionally clear and makes a very interesting feature. It contrasts well against the white ironstone background.

The scale plate is a smaller size, measuring 20.5cm in width and 1cm deep. The ironstone makes it ideal for use as a cheese board or for serving up food on as a platter or ironstone slab, keeping the food at a cool and constant temperature. 

The plate is in good condition for its age, with no chips or cracks. There is light crazing all over, as well as scratch and scuff marks from use, some of which has stained lightly especially around the outer rim. However, overall it is a reasonably clean example.
