Antique Edwardian Banded White Ironstone Kitchen Jar - Sago

A highly collectable Edwardian banded white ironstone storage jar for "SAGO", which is in fair condition with its original lid.

These white ironstone storage jars were popular in the early part of the twentieth Century, when foodstuffs were often sold in loose measures in local grocers shops. The "CURRANTS" label on this pot is still very clear and visible, with just a small amount of wear.

There is some light timeworn damage to this pot. Most notably, there is a chip to one side of the handle on the lid, plus some light chipping to the inside rim where the lid sits, no doubt from lots of years of use. There is also a very light star crack to the outside of the pot, but this doesn't penetrate through and is not a hairline. 

Otherwise, the pot is in good order. There is some light timeworn staining to the top rim and some age spots in places but otherwise it is quite a clean example.

A great piece either to start or add to a collection of white ironstone antique storage jars.
