Antique Early to Mid 20th Century Carved Treen Sugar or Butter Mould - Crown
Antique Early to Mid 20th Century Carved Treen Sugar or Butter Mould - Crown
This is a quality and rare piece of antique treen kitchenalia, with this sugar mould featuring an excellent and deeply carved Royal Crown.
Dating to the early to mid 20th Century, the maker's name - G.T. Culpitt and Son Ltd - is on the base of this mould. The firm still operates today, although it is now no longer run by the family.
The Royal motif on this sugar or biscuit stamp is very eye catching. The deep carved detail is exquisite and is still incredibly sharp and crisp, with the detail very striking indeed.
The mould is also in excellent overall condition with a lovely colour and patina to it. There is a small loss to the wood on one corner but this is minimal and blends in. The back has more wear, with remnants of glue, possibly from where this has been displayed previously.
