A nice smaller sized example of an antique early 20th Century pudding bowl.
Featuring advertising for the renowned high end London grocers, Fortnum & Mason of Piccadilly, this is a wonderful piece of antique kitchenalia. It dates from the early 20th Century, most likely the 1920s. Considered a throwaway item at the time, it was more than likely used as packaging for the pre-made savoury or sweet pudding, perhaps even their Christmas puddings.
This pudding bowl is in good antique condition, and is a great size for ongoing use to make puddings for the family. Although it is a little blurred, the Fortnum & Mason transfer print is still legible. There are some minor firing marks to the glaze in places, and general wear and discolouration to the inside and base of the pot from use. However, these add a nice charm and patina to the piece and there are no chips or cracks.
Height, 9cm; Width at base, 7.5cm; Width at top, 14.5cm
