Antique Early 20th Century Heavy Ironstone French Brulot Cup
Antique Early 20th Century Heavy Ironstone French Brulot Cup
This is a listing for ONE wonderful antique early 20th Century French brulot coffee cup.
Used in bistros and cafes, coffee was an expensive commodity at the time and was served in thick cups to help keep it warm and to be at less risk of spillages. The base of these cups was indented to have a serving of brandy in afterwards, which would have been warmed by the coffee.
Available to purchase individually, both these cups are in very good condition considering their age. In white ironstone, but with blue striped markings, they are highly decorative pieces. There are no chips or cracks, but there is light crazing on them both plus wear and discolouration to the base rims. There a few small firing pock marks on the left hand cup, plus a little blurring to the blue rim on the inside of the pot. The crazing on the right hand cup has stained a little on the base of the inside.
