Dating from the 1930s, this carved wooden biscuit roller is German in origin.

Designed to use to decorate ginger and pepper biscuits, this roller features ten unique patterns which would have been rolled onto biscuit dough ahead of it being baked in the oven. It's such a pretty piece, with the subjects including fruit, flowers, animals and landscape objects.

Still in workable condition, each of the carvings is very crisp and clear still. There are some nibbles and wear to the circular roller sections at each end of the pin, but this wouldn't affect its use in any way. There is also a hook at one end for anyone wishing to hang this up on display.
