Antique Early 20th Century Brass Shopkeepers' Scoop with Turned Mahogany Handle
Antique Early 20th Century Brass Shopkeepers' Scoop with Turned Mahogany Handle
A wonderful example of a large early 20th Century brass grain scoop, which typically would have been found in a shop serving flour and grains loosely.
Dating from the start of the twentieth Century, these types of scoops were designed for weighing out grains and flour for sale. With a brass scoop, turned mahogany handle and brass finial end, this is a particularly attractive and higher quality piece than those you normally come across. This example is a large size, which would look excellent on display and is still extremely functional too.
In good overall condition, the brass scoop does have some minor tarnishing to it in places. A varnish previously applied to the handle has worn in places and there are also some scratches from use. However, overall it's a particularly attractive piece and is also solid and very usable.
Length 35cm; Width, 11.5cm; Height, 14cm (at tallest point when scoop is laid flat)
