A sweet and nicely carved wooden Scottish shortbread mould dating from the 1930s.
This treen shortbread mould has lovely carved detail of a Scottish thistle, surrounded by a pointed border.
This piece displays well, but is still equally usable for making your own homemade shortbread at home.
The mould is in overall very good condition and doesn’t appear to have had any significant wear. The board itself is a nice large size, which allows the pattern to stand out. The carving is still very crisp and clear.
There are some minor marks and light staining to the mould in places. There is also some residue on the back of the mould, which appears to be the remains of glue (it was perhaps stuck to something for display purposes) but this could be filed away if desired and doesn't affect the use of the board in any way. Overall it’s a lovely piece of vintage kitchenalia.
