A gorgeous timeworn and buttery example of a three-tiered white ironstone jelly mould made by the famous Irish pottery, Belleek.
With a Belleek backstamp dating from the mid to late 19th Century, this jelly mould is still very usable around 150 years since it was produced. It is a wonderfully simple pattern but stands out in its quality and sloping shape.
The ironstone has taken on a weathered look over the years from where it has stained through regular use. There is light crazing all over, with patches of staining. This is richer in colour on the inside of the mould but is present all over. There are some minor surface cracks to the glaze around the rim of the mould, but there are no hairlines and no cracks on this piece. It is therefore still usable.
