This is a fantastic example of Swedish folk art in the form of a hand painted wooden foot stool.

Dating from the early to mid 1800s, this wooden stool is painted in a rich teal blue colour, and is finished off with a pretty floral pattern on top, featuring reds and purples.

The vibrant mix of colours and patterns makes this a very attractive decorative piece for the home.

This has suffered some damage in its history. Whilst they are all sturdy, the three legs look like they have been repaired and there is evidence of glue being added. I would therefore recommend that this isn't actually used to sit or stand on. Nonetheless, this would still make a stunning decorative feature. As well as the repairs to the legs, there is evidence of historical worm damage to the top of the stool too. There are old holes all over, but they are especially noticeable on the base and edge. This has been well treated but it might be prudent to retreat it occasionally.
