Antique 19th Century Green Transferware Saucier by Terre de Fer
Antique 19th Century Green Transferware Saucier by Terre de Fer
A wonderful rare antique 19th Century white ironstone French sauce dish with integrated drip plate.
Dating from the late 1800s, this French ironstone saucier has fantastic marks for Longchamp Terre de Fer on its base and features a lovely green transferware pattern, in the Lutece range.
Designed for sauce, it’s a beautifully shaped and decorative item. t is larger than most examples I normally come across.
In excellent condition, this piece can continue to be be used. Yet it has lots of natural timeworn charm and patination too. There is light coffee coloured staining all over, and some patches of crazing, from where this has been used before. The top rim has a few nibbles but there are no chips or cracks.
A great addition for collectors of antique French tableware or white ironstone who like their pieces with charm and patina.
