Antique 19th Century French Oak Herb Chopping Board

These antique French chopping or herb boards are so highly sought after. And understably so! The shape, weight and practicality of use make them so appealing.

This example, made of oak, is a lovely wide shape. The raised sides make it perfect for ensuring no food falls away from the sides while meals are being prepared. It is also a heavyweight piece so there's no risk of this moving around whilst in use either.

This board is in excellent condition and has a rich, warm patina having been regularly maintained with wax. There are a large number of knife marks and the centre of the board dips down a little from where it has been used, but these add to the timeworn charm of the piece.
