Antique 19th Century French Confit Pot with Pouring Spout - As Found

A beautiful aged antique 19th Century French confit pot, which has some damage but is still good to use as a decorative item around the home. A French country piece, it would have been used for preserving different oils or wine in a countryside property. The combination of the yellow glazed top section of the pot dripping down onto the terrcotta of the bottom half is a classic provencal style, epitomised in Van Gogh's sunflowers picture.  

As decorative pieces of homeware, these pots are always in high demand. They add a rustic charm to a kitchen as a utensil pot, or look great used for display purposes anywhere in the home.

This rustic pot would have been used on a daily basis and has consequently suffered some damage in its lifetime. Most notably, the handle on one side is now missing and the lid is missing. But the pouring spout and handle at the top of the pot remain in tact. There are also chips to the base and top rims. But there are no cracks, so it is in good stable condition. 

In keeping with the rustic style of the pot, there are scuff marks and odd knocks all over but these add to the naturally weathered charm of the piece and it is a very attractive piece still. The missing handle means this is priced far more cheaply than it otherwise would be. Yet it can easily be styled to cover this.
