Antique 19th Century French Advertising Pot - Moutarde Bordin
This is a listing for a rarely seen antique French white stoneware advertising pot for “Bordin” mustard, dating from the 1890s.
Like all French ironstone pots, this is a sturdy and heavy antique advertising pot. It is a very rare subject, and the simple black Art Deco style typography printed across its middle is typically French in style. The text reads highlights the award of two gold medals at the Paris exhibition of 1878.
These old white ironstone French pots are very collectable, making wonderful display items which are also perfect for use as small bud vases.
Originally discarded, this pot has since been dig up from an old dumping ground. Despite many years underground, this French ironstone pot is still in fair condition.
There is crazing all over, some of which has stained, as well as nibbles and chips to the surface glaze and rims in places, and some fading to the transfer. Most notably, there is a crack at the front of the pot, but this is stable and the pot is still in a stable condition.
