Antique 19th Century Framed Floral Oil on Canvas

A stunning small framed oil painting, sourced directly from the markets of Paris.

Depicting a beautiful still life of a vase of flowers sitting atop a book, the use of layering and textures on the oils created a vivid floral display against a muted backdrop. Despite its small size, this painting really draws you in. And it is signed by the artist, although I do not recognise the signature. There is a hook attached to the back of the frame to hang this from a wall.

In fair condition for its age, there is some light wear to the left hand side of the painting where some of the paint has worn away. The wooden frame was also originally painted in fold and white, but this has worn and peeled in places. There are also some gaps in the corners where the fixings have come slightly loose. The back of the painting is fixed into position, but the paper holding this in place has also worn and perished in places and there is an option to attach masking tape to fix this.
